Lewns Chosen to Attend NCAA Career in Sports Forum
INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Washington College sophomore field hockey player Erin Lewns (Fallston, MD/North Harford) has been chosen to attend the 2011 NCAA Career in Sports Forum, to be held June 12-15 in Indianapolis.
The NCAA Career in Sports Forum (Forum) is a four-day event through which selected student-athletes will explore and be educated on careers in sports, with a primary focus on intercollegiate athletics. This Forum will be provided to participants at no cost. The NCAA will cover airfare, lodging and meals during the Forum. Through the use of dual tracks, participants will examine the key functions of a coach or administrator within sports. Foundational skills such as communication, networking, recruiting, managing culture, transitioning and budgeting will be covered with participants.
Lewns will be the only student-athlete from a Centennial Conference school attending the forum. She started all 19 games, scored one goal, and made four defensive saves for the Shorewomen in the fall, helping the team advance to the Centennial Conference semifinals for the second time in three years.
