Hit .545 In Five Games To Earn Award For The First Time

LANCASTER, PA – Washington College freshman outfielder Bryan Baquer (Woodbridge, VA/Osbourn Park) has been named the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending on April 7 by the conference office.  This is the first time that Baquer has won the conference's baseball player of the week award.

Baquer batted .545 for this week (12-for-22) as he led the team in runs (5), hits (12), total bases (15), on-base (.565), slugging (.682) and steals (4), while tying for the team lead in triples (1).  The outfielder had a hit in all five games during the week for Washington.  He went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored at St. Mary's on April 1.  Baquer went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored on April 5 at McDaniel in a 7-4 victory.  The freshman registered three hits in four at-bats versus McDaniel on April 2.

He is the third Washington player this year to earn the conference's baseball player of the week award.  Junior second baseman Nick Marinelli (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) won the award on March 11 and senior outfielder/pitcher Sean Connole (Mt. Airy, MD/St. John's Catholic) garnered the award on March 18.

The Shoremen (12-13) travel to Swarthmore tomorrow afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. Centennial Conference baseball game.
