Centennial Conference Player of the Week Batted .609 In Five Games
FAIRBANKS, AK – Senior outfielder/pitcher Sean Connole (Mt. Airy, MD/St. John's Catholic) was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for the week of March 11-17 as an outfielder. This is the second honor of the week for Connole, as he was named the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Monday. He was one of three outfielders selected to the team.
Connole batted .609 for the week as he went 14-for-23 from the plate in five games for the Shoremen this week with three stolen bases. He led the team in hits (14), RBI (9) and total bases (18). The senior tied for the team lead in doubles (2), triples (1), was second in on-base percentage (.640) and was tied for second in runs scored (6). He did not make an error in 18 fielding chances and had multiple hits in every game. Connole went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored with a stolen base in a 17-16 win over Greenville on March 16. He went 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run and a steal versus St. Norbert on March 12. Connole was 3-for-4 with an RBI against RPI on March 15. The senior went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored against Mount Union on March 14. Versus Daniel Webster on March 13, he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.
This is the second time in as many seasons that a Washington baseball player has earned a spot on the team of the week as Ryan Normoyle '12 earned it last year on March 21 at shortstop.
The Shoremen (6-7) host St. Mary's (MD) on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Athey Baseball Park.
