Hits .609 En Route To Winning Award For The Second Time
LANCASTER, PA - Washington College senior outfielder/pitcher Sean Connole (Mt. Airy, MD/St. John's Catholic) has been named the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week the ending on March 17 by the conference office. This is the second time that Connole has won the conference's baseball player of the week award. He won the award for the first time on April 4, 2011.
Connole batted .609 for the week as he went 14-for-23 from the plate in five games for the Shoremen this week with three stolen bases. He led the team in hits (14), RBI (9) and total bases (18). The senior tied for the team lead in doubles (2), triples (1), was second in on-base percentage (.640) and was tied for second in runs scored (6). He did not make an error in 18 fielding chances and had multiple hits in every game. Connole went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored with a stolen base in a 17-16 win over Greenville on March 16. He went 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run and a steal versus St. Norbert on March 12. Connole was 3-for-4 with an RBI against RPI on March 15. The senior went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored against Mount Union on March 14. Versus Daniel Webster on March 13, he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.
It is the second week in a row that a member of the Shoremen Nine won the conference's player of the week award. Last week, junior second baseman Nick Marinelli (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) won the player of the week award.
The Shoremen (6-7) host St. Mary's (MD) on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Athey Baseball Park.
