Eagles Soar Past Shoremen, 16-7
Remington Goes 3-for-5 in Loss
LAKELAND, FL -- Daniel Webster College scored 14 runs over the first five innings en route to a 16-7 win over Washington College today at the RussMatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational in Lakeland.
The Eagles (4-1) plated four runs in the first and two in the third to post a 6-0 lead. The Shoremen scored four times in the top of the fourth, but Daniel Webster matched that number in the bottom of the frame to make it 10-4. The Eagles then tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to build a 10-run lead.
Bruce Brown went 3-for-5 with two doubles, four RBI, and three runs scored for the Eagles, while Tyler Bonins was 3-for-3 with a walk, three RBI, and a run scored. Korey LeLievre hit a bases-loaded triple in the first inning and scored on the play as a result of an error.
Washington freshman Ian Remington (Guilford, CT/Guilford) was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI for the Shoremen, while junior Ryan Normoyle (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) was 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, two RBI, and two runs scored.
The Shoremen (6-4) continue play at the RussMatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational tomorrow when they take on Husson at 1:00 p.m. in Lake Wales.
