Sports Information Director:
Phil Ticknor

Phil Ticknor has been the Sports Information Director at Washington College since June 2001. Upon his hire, he completed a total redesign of the Washington College Athletics web site. During the summer of 2006, he again redesigned the site and moved it to its current home at WashingtonCollegeSports.com.

Thanks to Ticknor's efforts, Washington College was the first institution in the Centennial Conference to offer live Internet statistics and play-by-play text for any sport. WC continues to be at the forefront of live stats in the Centennial Conference and in all of Division III, offering live stats for all men's and women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's lacrosse home games. Live stats are also provided for selected home tennis matches.

Ticknor also established the production of a Washington College Athletics recruiting CD-ROM, which he produces each summer. The CD-ROM contains information on all 17 varsity sports at WC as well as admissions information and short video clips. Washington College is the first school in the Centennial Conference to move its recruiting materials from print to multimedia.

Ticknor played a large role in the creation of the Charles B. Clark Cup, awarded annually to the winner of the Washington College/Salisbury University regular season men's lacrosse game, and became a member of the College's Hall of Fame Committee in 2005.

A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA), Ticknor has served on CoSIDA's Technology Committee since 2003. In August 2006, he launched The SID Board, the first online discussion forum for sports information professionals. The following summer he conducted a table topic on healthy living for SIDs at the ECAC-SIDA Workshop.

In addition to his work at the college, Ticknor has performed various freelance duties as a publications designer and web editor. He worked as a photographer for Champ Camp, a premier summer showcase tournament for high school boys lacrosse players, for five summers, before taking over the camp's web editor duties in 2007. He also volunteered as a media relations assistant for the Baltimore Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse during the summer of 2004.

Ticknor earned a B.A. in Communication from Goucher College with honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa in 2001. While at Goucher, Ticknor served as a student assistant to three different Sports Information Directors.
