About the Sho'men Club

The Sho'men Club is an organization dedicated specifically to the support and promotion of athletics and intramurals at Washington College. The Sho'men Club is committed to providing support for annual fund raising and recognition activities for intercollegiate athletics.

Since its inception in 1988, the Club has benefited each of the 17 varsity sports at the College, and has provided ways for all students to fully enjoy the intercollegiate athletic and recreational sports experience. By joining the Sho'men Club, members are helping the College to maintain the highest standards of athletic success. The Sho'men Club is improving facilities and equipment, and establishing alumni support.

Options For Giving

Gifts may be restricted to a specific sport, or made to the General Athletic Fund. A restricted donation means that 80% will go directly to the designated sport, and the remaining 20% of the gift will funnel into the General Athletic Fund.

A donor may choose to designate more than one sport for his/her donation. Restricted donations are the best way for donors to ensure support for their chosen sport or sports.

The Board uses General Athletic fund donations to address common needs. All gifts are tax deductible. In addition, gifts to the Sho'men Club count towards all other gifts and Gift Clubs at the College.

& Club Benefits

There are several levels of giving. A minimum donation of $50 allows you to be a Sho'men Club member and receive a variety of benefits.

Members at all giving levels receive a handy Washington College sports schedule and the official Sho'men Club Newsletter, which is published periodically during the academic year, and keeps you up to date on all the results and upcoming events. The Sho'men Club also is offering weekly sports updates delivered directly to your e-mail address.

The Sho'men Club Helps the
Entire Athletic Program By ...

- Providing funds to make possible special projects (i.e. trips, equipment, lodging, etc.) beyond the limits of the standard operating budget

- Sponsoring banquets and other social activities for players, alumni, coaches, press, faculty, parents, and others interested in the entire athletic program at Washington College

- Supplementing part-time coaches' salaries

- Providing annual support for intramurals

The Sho'men Club Has Also ...

- Completed a major renovation of the softball field, including dugouts, fences, and a press box.

- Funded the carpeting of team lockerrooms.

- Purchased equipment for the weight room.

- Purchased defibrillators.

- Purchased vehicles for use on campus by the athletic training staff.

- Provided the purchase of audio and visual equipment for Athletic Department use
