WC Second at H/WS Fall Intersectional
Washington Also Finishes Fourth at Tom Curtis Memorial

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College sailing team finished second of 17 teams at the Hobart/William Smith Fall Intersectional and finished fourth of 17 teams at the Tom Curtis Memorial, hosted by Georgetown, this weekend.

At the Hobart/William Smith Fall Intersectional, junior skipper Alex Hood (Newport, RI/Portsmouth Abbey) and junior crew Shrijana Puri (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) finished second in A Division, while junior skipper Parker Mitchell (Malibu, CA/Malibu) and junior crew Tonie Domino (Crownsville, MD/Old Mill) were fourth in B Division. Hood and Puri finished eighth, sixth, second, and fourth in the four A Division races, while Mitchell and Domino were seventh, eighth, third, and second in the four B Division races.

Second-ranked host Hobart/William Smith won the Hobart/William Smith Fall Intersectional, while fifth-ranked St. Mary's was third. Washington finished ahead of five nationally-ranked teams at the regatta.

All four races in each division at the Hobart/William Smith Fall Intersectional were held on Sunday. No races were held on Saturday due to lack of wind. Sunday's races ended at 2:00 p.m. when the wind died.

At the Tom Curtis Memorial, freshman skipper Conner Blouin (Tampa, FL/Jesuit) and freshman crew Krista Hankins (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Regional) were fourth in A Division, while junior skipper Meredith Dodd (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) and junior crew Meredith Bluefeld (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion) placed sixth in B Division. Blouin and Hankins won three A Division races and finished second in two others.

Sixth-ranked host Georgetown won the Tom Curtis, followed by 19th-ranked Navy in second and second-ranked Hobart/William Smith in third. Twelve races were sailed in each division. Ten A Division races and eight B Division races were sailed on Saturday; the remaining races were sailed on Sunday. Saturday's winds were northeast starting out at 15-25 miles per hour with higher gusts and then diminishing to 10-15 mph. Sunday's races were sailed in northeast winds of 3-8 mph before the wind died at 1:00 p.m..

Next weekend, the Washington College sailing team will host the Washington College Open and will be represented at the North Fall #2, hosted by New York Maritime.
