Washington Sixth at Arrigan Memorial
WC Also 16th at Admiral's Cup

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College sailing team finished sixth of 16 teams at the Arrigan Memorial, hosted by Georgetown, and 16th of 18 teams at the Admiral's Cup, an intersectional hosted by Kings Point, this weekend.

Freshman skipper Nick Larmore (Wilmetter, IL/New Trier) and sophomore crew Meredith Bluefeld (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion) finished fifth in A Division at the Arrigan Memorial, while freshman skipper Seth Olson (Branford, CT/Branford) and sophomore crew Tonie Domino (Crownsville, MD/Old Mill) were sixth in B Division.

Sixth-ranked St. Mary's won the Arrigan Memorial, while 19th-ranked Navy was second and Pennsylvania was third. Eight races were sailed in each division on Saturday and three races in each division were sailed on Sunday. Saturday's winds were shifty, starting out from the south at 5-10 miles per hour and then switching to the west-northwest at 2-12 miles per hour.

Senior skipper Carl Horrocks (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) and sophomore crew Shri Puri (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) finished 13th in A Division at the Admiral's Cup, while sophomore skipper Alex Hood (Newport, RI/Portsmouth Abbey) and freshman crew Derek Packard (Excelsior, MN/Breck) were 14th in B Division and sophomore Chase Hillyer (Summit, NJ/Morristown-Beard) was 18th in C Division.

Second-ranked Hobart/William Smith won the Admiral's Cup, while sixth-ranked St. Mary's was second and fourth-ranked Harvard was third. Six races were sailed in each division on Saturday after a postponement until 3:25 p.m. Eleven races were sailed in each division on Sunday. Sunday's racing began in a light northerly that was extremely shifty and slowly built all day.

Next weekend, the WC sailing team will compete at the Kennedy Cup, an offshore regatta at Navy, and at the MAISA Spring Women's Championships, hosted by New York Maritime.
