WC 16th at Atlantic Coast Dinghy
Horrocks and Puri Finish 10th in A Division

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD -- The Washington College sailing team finished 16th of 18 teams at the Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championships held this weekend at St. Mary's College in St. Mary's City, MD. Fifteen of the 20 schools ranked in the Sailing World National Co-Ed Rankings competed at the event.

Senior skipper Carl Horrocks (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) and sophomore crew Shri Puri (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) finished 10th in A Division for Washington. Horrocks and Puri finished in the top five in five of the 15 A Division races. Sophomore skipper Alex Hood (Newport, RI/Portsmouth Abbey) and freshman crew Colleen Kelly (Brick, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) finished 17th overall in B Division.

Twelfth-ranked Brown won the regatta, followed by sixth-ranked Georgetown in second and fifth-ranked Harvard in third. Washington finished ahead of 20th-ranked Eckerd (17th place) and 10th-ranked Kings Point (18th place).

The regatta featured sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 60's. Breezes were mostly southerly, ranging from 4-7 knots Saturday, turning to the East, and 6-12 knots on Sunday all from the South.
