Washington 9th at War Memorial

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The 19th-ranked Washington College sailing team finished ninth of 18 teams this weekend at the War Memorial, the MAISA Fall Championships, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy.

Junior Carl Horrocks (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) and freshman crew Alexandria Starks (Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) placed second in B Division, while senior skipper Colin Robertson (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) and sophomore crew Vanessa Anderson (Narragansett, RI/The Prout School) finished 11th in A Division. Horrocks and Starks finished first in three of the 18 B Division races and placed in the top five in 12 of them.

Sixth-ranked St. Mary's (MD) won the the War Memorial, followed by ninth-ranked Georgetown in second and second-ranked Yale in third. Ten races were completed on Saturday in a light southerly breeze. The remaining eight races were completed Sunday in southwest breeze of 5-12 knots.

Next weekend, members of the Washington College sailing team will compete at the MAISA Women's Fall Championships, hosted by Georgetown, and the ACC Freshman Championships, hosted by Navy.
