WC Competes at Maryland Spring Open
Shore Sailors Finish 10th at Regatta

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Washington College sailing team finished 10th of 17 teams this weekend at the Maryland Spring Open, held at the Severn Sailing Association in Annapolis, MD. Washington was represented by four freshman sailors at the event, each of whom skippered for at least two races.

Vanessa Anderson (Narragansett, RI/The Prout School) and Nat Thompson (Frederick, MD/Westtown, PA) sailed for Washington in A Division, finishing in 10th place. They finished as high as third in the 14 A Division races.

Alex Mudge (Baltimore, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and Lindsey Bowman (Old Saybrook, CT/Old Saybrook) finished 10th in B Division. Mudge and Bowman finished as high as second in the 14 B Division races.

Georgetown won the regatta, followed by Hampton in second and Maryland's "Gold" team in third. Saturday's races were sailed in light winds of no more than five miles per hour. The wind pick up to 18 miles per hour on Sunday.

The WC sailors will compete at the Admiral's Cup, hosted by King's Point, next weekend.
