Washington 11th at Anderson Trophy
Horrocks & Starks 8th in B Division

BRANFORD, CT -- The 16th-ranked Washington College sailing team opened its fall 2004 schedule this weekend at the Harry Anderson Trophy, hosted by Yale University, in Branford, CT. Washington finished 11th of 24 teams at the event, which is the first major intersectional regatta of the year.

Washington junior skipper Carl Horrocks (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) and freshman crew Alexandria Starks finished eigth in B Division. Senior skipper Colin Robertson (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) and sophomore crew Vanessa Andeson (Narragansett, RI/The Prout School) place 12th in A Division.

Tenth-ranked Boston College won the regatta, finishing just four points ahead of fifth-ranked St. Mary's (MD), which placed second. Connecticut College finished third.

Saturday's racing featured a light to moderate breeze with a bit of chop, which often made sailing conditions difficult. Sunday brought cooler temperatures and a wind that built as the day progressed. A total of 11 races were held in each division.

Next weekend, the Washington College sailing team is scheduled to compete at the Captain Hurst Bowl, hosted by Dartmouth, and at the Navy Laser Open.
