WC Finishes 11th at Navy Fall Intersectional
Washington Also Eighth at WC Open

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The second-ranked Washington College sailing team competed in two regattas this past weekend. WC finished 11th of 20 teams at the Navy Fall Intersectional and eighth of 12 teams at the WC Open on the Chester River.

Senior skipper Mike Buckley (Sandwich, MA/Tabor Academy), sailing with junior crew Halle Ricker (Traceys Landing, MD/St. Mary's) and freshman crew Nat Thompson (Frederick, MD) led the WC effort at the Navy Fall by finishing third in A Division. In B Division, junior skipper Colin Robertson (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) and senior crew Jen Hanley (Sparks, MD/Maryvale Prep) finished 11th. Sophomore Carl Horrocks (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) and junior Chad Hillyer (Summit, NJ/Morristown-Beard) guided Washington to fifth and 15th-place finishes in C and D Divisions, respectively.

Top-ranked Harvard won the Navy Fall Intersectional, followed by 11th-ranked Tufts in second and fifth-ranked Hobart/William Smith in third.

At the WC Open, freshmen Vanessa Anderson (Narragansett, RI/The Prout School) and Sterling Schlegel (West River, MD/Key School) finished eighth in A Division, while freshmen Alex Mudge (Baltimore, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and Brian Foy (Edgewater Park, NJ) finished seventh in B Division. Georgetown finished first overall at the WC Open. St. Mary's (MD) finished second and Maryland was third.

Next weekend, Washington will compete at the King's Point Dinghy Open, the MAISA Freshman at St. Mary's (MD) and the MAISA Sloops at New York Maritime.
