WC Competes at Truxtun Umstead

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Washington College sailing team placed 16th in a 20-team field at the Truxton Umsted Regatta this past weekend, hosted by the Naval Academy. Most of the top 20 teams in the nation attended this 4 division intersectional regatta.

In A division sophomore Nathan St. Onge (Hyannis, MA/Barnstable) and crew senior Sarah Corson (Demarest, NJ/The Masters School, NY) placed 16th; in B division sophmore Mike Buckley (Sandwich, MA/Tabor Academy) with senior crews Lisa Semanick (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech) and Simon Day (Middletown, RI/Rocky Hill) placed 5th; in the singlehanded divisions freshman Chad Hillyer (Summit, NJ/Morristown-Beard) was 19th in C, while freshman Colin Robertson (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) was 16th in D.

Harvard University won the Regatta followed by Tufts, Old Dominion, St. Mary's (MD), and Navy.

Washington, which received votes in the latest Sailing World top 20 national poll, will compete next weekend at the Southern New England Team Race, hosted by Harvard and M.I.T.
