WC Sails at Navy Fall Intersectional,
Hosts Washington College Open

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College sailing team competed in two events this past weekend, the Navy Fall Intersectional and the Washington College Open.

The Navy Fall Intersectional featured 20 of the top sailing teams in the nation competing in four divisions. Washington College placed 14th in this very competitive field.

In A division sophomore Mike Buckley (Sandwich, MA/Tabor Academy) and senior crew Lisa Semanick (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech) placed eighth, while in B division sophomore Nathan St. Onge (Hyannis, MA/Barnstable) and senior crews Kristen Samuel (Hudson, OH/Western Reserve Academy) and Simon Day (Middletown, RI/Rocky Hill) finished 14th.

Sailing Lasers in C and D divisions freshman Colin Robertson (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) and Chad Hillyer (Summit, NJ/Morristown-Beard) placed 11th and 16th respectively.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges won Navy Fall followed by Georgetown, Old Dominion, St. Mary's and Tufts.

At the Washington College Open, WC placed sixth in a field of 12. In A division sophomore Joe Brooks (Cambridge, MD/Cambridge-South Dorchester) and freshman crew Diane Morrow (Tabernacle, NJ/Shawnee) finished seventh, while in B division senior Sarah Corson (Demarest, NJ/The Masters School, NY) and freshman Max von Roth (Weston, VT/Long Trail) placed ninth. St. Mary's College won the WC Open, followed by Georgetown and Hampton.

Washington returns to action October 27-28 at the War Memorial hosted by SUNY-Maritime.
