1, 2001 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College
sailing team competed in two regattas this weekend: the Tom Curtis Memorial
at Georgetown and the New York Maritime Open at SUNY-Maritime. At the Tom Curtis Regatta, WC placed fifth
in a field of 15 teams. In A division, seniors Simon Day (Middletown,
RI/Rocky Hill) and Lisa Semanick (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech)
finished fourth, while in B sophomore Joe Brooks (Cambridge, MD/Cambridge-South
Dorchester) and freshman crew Max von Roth (Weston, VT/Long Trail)
placed seventh. Georgetown University won the regatta followed by St.
Mary's College and Old Dominion University. At the New York Maritime Open, WC placed
third in a field of 16 schools. In A division sophomore Nathan St.
Onge (Hyannis, MA/Barnstable) and senior Kristen Samuel (Hudson,
OH/Western Reserve Academy) placed third , while in B division freshman
Colin Robertson (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) and senior Sarah
Corson (Demarest, NJ/The Masters School, NY) placed fifth. Old Dominion
University win the regatta followed by St. Mary's College and WC. The WC sailing team, which received votes in the latest ICSA/Sailing World Magazine national coaches' poll, has no regattas scheduled next weekend, but will resume competition October 13-14 at the Navy Fall Intersectional and the Washington College Open. |
