WC Sails to Best-Ever Finish
at Middle Atlantic Championships

BRONX, NY -- The Washington College sailing team concluded its fall season this past weekend at the Middle Atlantic Sailing Association fall championships, the War Memorial Regatta. This regatta was hosted by SUNY Maritime College on the East River in the Bronx.

WC finished in seventh place overall in a field of 18 teams and sixth amongst teams from the Middle Atlantic region. This was Washington's best-ever finish at the fall championship.

In A division, sophomore Mike Buckley (Sandwich, MA/Tabor Academy) sailing with alternating crews Chad Hillyer (Summit, NJ/Morristown-Beard) and Kristen Samuel (Hudson, OH/Western Reserve Academy) placed seventh in A division. In B division, sophomore Nathan St. Onge (Hyannis, MA/Barnstable) and freshman Colin Robertson (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) split driving duties with alternating crews Simon Day (Middletown, RI/Rocky Hill) and Lisa Semanick (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech) for a ninth place finish.

Washington will end the season ranked No. 6 in the Middle Atlantic district, an all-time best.

This regatta concluded Washington's fall 2001 season. The team will resume competition in February 2002.
