May 12, 2009 LANCASTER, PA - Eleven Washington College student-athletes have been named to the Centennial Conference's Academic Honor Roll for spring sports. To be named to the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior; a starter or key reserve on his or her team; and carry at least a 3.40 cumulative grade-point average. Washington's women's lacrosse team had three players named to the Honor Roll - junior midfielder Whitney Donald (Kingsville, MD/John Carroll), sophomore midfielder Liz Cumberpatch (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis), and sophomore defender Carly Gardner (Lafayette Hill, PA/Mount St. Joseph Academy). Donald earned the honor for the second year in a row. The Washington softball team had two of its three non-freshmen named to the Honor Roll - senior pitcher Emily Adams (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) and sophomore outfielder Becca Nicely (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame). Adams is a three-time honoree. Seniors Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) and Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, MD) each represented the men's tennis team on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third year in a row. Sophomore Mary Kelley (Frederick, MD/Glenelg Country School) represented the women's tennis team. Junior third baseman Matt Boucher (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton) and senior outfielder Tony Tozzolo (Calvert County, MD/Northern) represented the baseball team on the honor roll for the second year in a row, while senior attackman Jimmy Kielek (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) represented the men's lacrosse team for the third straight year. |
