Green & Danver Named ITA Scholar-Athletes

SKILLMAN, NJ -- Washington College men's tennis co-captains Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC) and Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood), both rising seniors, have been named 2008 Division III Scholar-Athletes by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a student-athlete must meet the following criteria: be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year). Both Green and Danver earned the distinction for the third year in a row.

The ITA Scholar-Athlete awards round out a year full of honors for Green and Danver, both of whom are two-sport athletes. Danver was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Rolls for soccer and tennis, was the male recipient of Washington College's Thomas Reeder Spedden Medal, and was named the Co-MVP of the tennis team. Green was named to the ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-District II first team for both basketball and at-large sports (including tennis), the ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-America third team for at-large sports, the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Rolls for basketball and tennis, and to the All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team for basketball. He was also the male recipient of Washington College's Elizabeth "Bo" Blanchard Memorial Sportsmanship Award and was named the Co-MVP of the tennis team.
