2008 WESTMINSTER, MD -- Visiting Washington College rolled to a 9-0 Centennial Conference men's tennis victory over host McDaniel College this afternoon. Juniors Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans, DC) and Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD) each posted 6-0, 6-0, singles wins as the Shoremen improved to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win. In doubles, sophomores Timothy Parks (Geneva, Switzerland/College du Leman) and Derek Wise (Salisbury, MD/Parkside) were 9-7 winners against Chris Reed and Ben Faber at No. 1, while Danver and freshman Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) posted an 8-2 victory over Dan Hovorka and Corey Graybill at No. 2. At No. 3 doubles, Switala and freshman Jon Keller (Frederick, MD/Frederick) blanked Drew Gress and Justin Ward, 8-0. Parks bested Hovorka, 2-6, 6-1, 11-9, at No. 1 singles, while junior Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) beat Faber, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. Cranford beat Reed, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3. Danver blanked Graybill at No. 4, while Wise bested Gress, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5, and Switala shut out Adrian Pettaway at No. 6. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Gettysburg. |
