#9 Eagles Down Shoremen, 9-0

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Mary Washington, ranked ninth in Division III and second in the Atlantic South region, topped host Washington College, the 11th-ranked team in the region, 9-0, in a men's tennis match today inside the Lifetime Fitness Center. The Eagles improved to 17-8 with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 7-7 with the loss.

Mary Washington took a 3-0 lead after doubles. The most competitive doubles match was at No. 1, where Zach Detweiler and Randy Loden posted an 8-5 win over WC sophomores Rafael Roldan (Quito, Ecuador/Academia Cotopaxi) and Brian Danver (Montgomery Village, MD/St. Albans).

Mary Washington's John James, ranked seventh in Division III in singles and second in the Atlantic South, posted a 6-1, 7-5, win over Roldan at No. 1 singles.

The Shoremen return to action Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Ursinus.
