2007 SALISBURY, MD -- Host Salisbury University swept doubles play in a 6-3 non-conference men's tennis victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Salisbury, MD. The Sea Gulls, ranked ninth in the Atlantic South region, improved to 17-7 with the win, while the Shoremen, ranked 15th in the region, fell to 8-10 with the loss. Salisbury's doubles wins included an 8-4 win for Brendan Kincaid and Scott Burtzlaff, ranked seventh in doubles in the region, at No. 1. Washington's three points came in singles. Senior Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School), the seventh-ranked singles player in the region, was a 6-3, 6-4, winner at No. 1, sophomore Rafael Roldan (Quito, Ecuador/Academia Cotopaxi) recorded a 6-4, 6-3, victory at No. 2, and sophomore Brian Danver (Montgomery Village, MD/St. Albans) posted a 6-4, 7-5, win at No. 4. The Shoremen return to action Friday when they take on Haverford in a 3:00 p.m. Centennial Conference semifinal match at Johns Hopkins. |
