2007 ALLENTOWN, PA -- Visiting Washington College, ranked 11th in the Atlantic South region, posted a 9-0 Centennial Conference men's tennis victory over host Muhlenberg College this afternoon in Allentown, PA. The Shoremen improved to 7-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play with the win, while the Mules fell to 3-5 and 2-3 with the loss. In doubles, sophomore Rafael Roldan (Quito, Ecuador/Academia Cotopaxi) and sophomore Brian Danver (Montgomery Village, MD/St. Albans) posted an 8-0 win at No. 1, freshman Timothy Parks (Geneva, Switzerland/College du Leman) and sophomore Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD) were 8-4 winners at No. 2, and sophomore Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) and freshman Derek Wise (Salisbury, MD/Parkside) posted an 8-3 win at No. 3. In singles, Roldan recorded a 6-4, 6-0, win at No. 1, Green was a 6-2, 6-2, winner at No. 2, and Danver recorded a 6-4, 6-2, triumph at No. 3. Switala rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4, Parks notched a 6-2, 7-6, win at No. 5, and Wise posted a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6. The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with a 10:00 a.m. match against Mary Washington, the ninth-ranked team in all of Division III. |
