2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College posted a 9-0 Centennial Conference men's tennis win over visiting McDaniel this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. Washington has now shut out McDaniel in 16 straight matches. The Shoremen, ranked 11th in the Atlantic South region, improved to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play with the win, while the Green Terror fell to 1-7 and 0-6. Washington won all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead in the match. Sophomore Brian Danver (Montgomery Village, MD/St. Albans) and sophomore Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) were 8-2 winners at No. 1, senior Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School) and freshman Derek Wise (Salisbury, MD/Parkside) posted an 8-1 win at No. 2, and freshman Timothy Parks (Geneva, Switzerland/College du Leman) and sophomore Michal Switala (Redlo, Poland/Gunston Day School, MD) recorded an 8-6 win at No. 3. In singles, Solis, ranked seventh in the region, cruised to a 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 1, Green was a 6-1, 6-3, winner at No. 2, and Danver recorded a 6-0, 6-2, victory at No. 3. Switala posted a 6-1, 6-1, win at No. 4, Parks was a 6-1, 6-2, winner at No. 5, and Wise recorded an 8-1 win at No. 6. The Shoremen return to action Tuesday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match at Johns Hopkins, the 21st-ranked team in Division III. |
