Solis Finishes Third at ITA Nationals
Junior Wins Third-Place Match of Div. III Singles

FORT MYERS, FL -- Washington College junior men's tennis player Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School) won the third-place match of Division III Men's Singles Tournament at the ITA National Small College Championships today at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL.

Solis defeated Nate Edmunds of Middlebury, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in today's third-place match. He fell to Loren Collins of Gustavus Adolphus, 6-3, 6-4, in yesterday's semifinals. He won his first match of the tournament Thursday by defeating Stuart Row of Trinity (TX), 6-4, 6-7(6), 7-5. Solis trailed Row, 5-3, in the third set before winning the last four games to walk away with the match victory.

"I'm really excited about Arturo getting his first two national event wins," remarked Washington College head coach Constantine Ananiadis. "This was a good weekend overall for him. It should give him a lot of confidence for the spring season."

The Washington College men's tennis team opens its spring schedule with a 9:00 a.m. match at The College of New Jersey February 25th.
