#20 Shoremen Drop Diplomats
WC Cruises Past Franklin & Marshall, 7-0

LANCASTER, PA -- The Washington College men's tennis team, ranked 20th in Division III and ninth in the Atlantic South region, cruised to its fourth straight 7-0 Centennial Conference victory over host Franklin & Marshall College this afternoon in Lancaster, PA. The Shoremen, who have not lost a set in conference play so far this season, improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while the Diplomats fell to 3-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Washington won all three of its doubles matches. Junior Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School) and senior Tim Riske (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury), ranked fourth in the region, won at No. 1, 8-0. Seniors Mike Edison (Darnestown, MD/Good Counsel) and Maciek Prytula (Szczecin, Poland/PLO) won at No. 2, 8-5 and freshmen Rafael Roldan (Quito, Ecuador/Academia Cotopaxi) and Anantha Bhaskar (Chennai, India/National Open School) were 8-2 winners at No. 3.

In Singles, Solis, ranked first in the region, and Prytula were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 1 and No. 5, respectively. Riske recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2, and Bhaskar put up a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3. Edison was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 4, while Roldan recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6.

"The guys continue to perform well and have improved with each conference match," remarked Washington College assistant men's tennis coach Mike Duquette. "Victories like today's will give us confidence as we continue to face tough opponents in the region."

The Shoremen return to action Saturday at 3:30 p.m. for an away Centennial Conference match at McDaniel.
