#20 Shoremen Trump Tartans, 4-3
Eleventh Straight Win for Washington

PITTSBURGH, PA -- The Washington College men's tennis team, ranked 20th in Division III and ninth in the Atlantic South region, won its 11th consecutive match by defeating host Carnegie Mellon, the region's fifth-ranked team, 4-3, this afternoon. The Shoremen improved to 14-3 with the win, while the Tartans fell to 3-10 with the loss.

Washington swept doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Junior Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School) and senior Tim Riskie (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury), the region's fourth-ranked doubles team, bested Stephen Kuhn and Yiran Liu, 8-4, at No. 1. Senior Mike Edison (Darnestown, MD/Good Counsel) and senior Maciek Prytula (Szczecin, Poland/PLO) added an 8-5 win at No. 2 over Carl Yang and Jordan Koslosky, while freshman Anantha Bhaskar (Chennai, India/National Open School) and freshman Rafael Roldan (Quito, Ecuador/Academia Cotopaxi) were 8-2 winners against Dan Munoz and Andrew Clearfield at No. 3.

Solis, the top-ranked singles player in the region, gave the Shoremen a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2, win at No. 1 singles over Liu, the region's 16th-ranked singles player. Clearfield, ranked 20th in the region, bested Riskie, 6-0, 6-1, to trim the lead to 2-1, but a 6-2, 6-3 win by Roldan against Anthony Robinson at No. 6 and a 6-1, 6-4, victory by Bhaskar against Kuhn at No. 3, clinched the match for the Shoremen. The Tartans picked up later wins at No. 4 and No. 5 to account for the final margin.

The Shoremen return to action Thursday with a 3:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against Johns Hopkins, the eighth-ranked team in the Atlantic South.
