11, 2004 FREDERICKSBURG, VA -- Washington College juniors Tim Riskie (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) and Nick Komljenovic (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) and sophomore Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Vallo Verde School) competed at the University of Mary Washington Tennis Kick-Off Classic yesterday and today in Fredericksburg, VA. Riskie and Komljenovic each went 2-1 in singles play. Riskie competed in flight three singles. His two singles wins came against Jon Pollak, 7-5, 6-1, and Jae Ko, 6-1, 6-1. Pollak and Ko both play for Mary Washington. Komljenovic, who competed in flight four, also defeated two Mary Washington players, downing Matt Hoover, 6-2, 6-4, and Tommy Openchowski, 6-1, 6-4. Solis went 1-2 in flight one singles, picking up a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) win over Mary Washington's Paul Bristow. Solis and Riskie also competed in doubles, going 1-2 in flight two. Their win was an 8-1 triumph over George Washington's Will Timmons and Jason Sucoll. Washington will compete at the ITA Southeast Regionals to be held October 2-4 at Goucher College.
