April 26, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Senior Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City School) was a winner in both singles and doubles in his final collegiate home match as the Washington College men's tennis team defeated visiting McDaniel, 7-0, in a Centennial Conference match this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Shoremen finish the regular season 9-9 overall and 7-1 in Centennial play. Farouk was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 1 singles and an 8-3 winner at No. 1 doubles with junior Mike Edison (Darnestown, MD/Good Counsel). Freshman Albert Park (Busan, South Korea/Millbrook School, NY) picked up his first collegiate singles and doubles wins for Washington. Park was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 6 singles and an 8-6 winner at No. 3 doubles with junior Ronen Kashvin (Rishon Le Tzion, Israel/Hashmonaim Bat-Yam). Elsewhere in singles, sophomore Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School) posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2, Edison recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3, junior Maciek Prytula (Szczecin, Poland/PLO) was a 7-0, 7-0 winner at No. 4, and Kashvin completed a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5. Solis and Prytula were also 8-1 winners at No. 2 doubles. The Shoremen return to action Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Centennial Conference Tournament hosted by Haverford College.
