April 18, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's tennis team improved to 6-8 overall and 5-1 in Centennial Conference play with a 5-2 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Diplomats fell to 8-5 and 4-2 with the loss. Washington swept the doubles matches to pick up the first point of the day. Senior Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City School) and junior Tim Riskie (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) were 8-0 winners at No. 1, juniors Tim Riskie (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) and Mike Edison (Darnestown, MD/Good Counsel) posted an 8-6 win at No. 2, and sophomore Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School) and junior Ronen Kashvin (Rishon Le Tzion, Israel/Hashmonaim Bat-Yam) were 8-3 winners at No. 3. Solis gave the Shoremen their second point of the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Prytula held on for a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 4, winning on his fifth match point of the final game. Riskie then completed a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 to clinch the match for the Shoremen. Farouk added a 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 win at No. 5. The Diplomats won at the final two singles spots to finish, No. 3 and No. 6. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. match at Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University.
