March 11, 2005 ATLANTA, GA -- Host Emory University, ranked third in Division III and first in the Atlantic South region, defeated visiting Washington College, ranked 18th in Division III and fifth in the region, 7-0, in men's tennis action this afternoon in Atlanta, GA. The Eagles' line-up in the match featured five nationally-ranked singles players and two nationally-ranked doubles teams. The Shoremen's most competitive singles match came at No. 1, where sophomore Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School) fell to Mark Odgers, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 1 doubles, junior Tim Riskie (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) and senior Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City School) fell to Odgers and Alex Jacobs, 8-5. Despite the loss, Washington head coach Constantine Ananiadis was still pleased with his team's effort. "I was happy with how we competed and how we played, but we lost to a very good Emory team," noted Ananiadis. "Our trip south has been a successful ones; we've improved a lot over the last week. We're looking forward to opening Centennial Conference play next weekend." The Shoremen, who are 88-0 all-time in Centennial Conference play and have not lost a conference match of any kind since 1985, open their 2005 conference slate March 19th with a 1:00 p.m. match at Muhlenberg.
