February 25, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The 18th-ranked Washington College men's tennis dropped its season opener to visiting Division I Bucknell University, 5-2, this evening at the Johnson Lifetime Fitness Center. Washington sophomore Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Valle Verde School) posted victories in both singles and doubles for the Shoremen. Solis and junior Tim Riskie (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) picked up a win at No. 1 doubles for the Shoremen by defeating Asher Salam and Nick Denefrio, 8-6. Solis then bested Salam at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, to earn Washington's first point of the match. Junior Mike Edison (Darnestown, MD/Good Counsel) defeated Gerald DiChiara, 7-6(6), 6-2, at No. 4 singles to provide Washington's second point. The Shoremen will host another Division I opponent Sunday when they take on Richmond at 10:00 a.m. Match Results |
