11, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's tennis team, ranked 18th in Division III and fifth in the Atlantic South region, defeated visiting Piedmont College, 6-1, this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Lions are the seventh-ranked team in the Atlantic South region. Washington (2-0) won all three doubles matches to capture the doubles point. Senior Peter Taylor (Canton, CT/Canton) and junior Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City School) were 8-5 winners at No. 1, while freshmen Vivian Chhetri (Delhi, India/Prachar Vidhlaya) and Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Vallo Verde School) cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 2. Sophomores Tim Riskie (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) and Maciek Prytula (Szczecin, Poland/PLO) pulled out an 8-6 win at No. 3. Four of the Shoremen's five singles wins came in straight sets. Taylor won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, while Solis won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Farouk was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 4 and Prytula notched a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6. Riskie picked up the other win in singles for the Shoremen by posting a 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 three-set win at No. 5. The Shoremen will head to Bethany Beach, DE, for training this weekend. They were scheduled to play Skidmore in Bethany Beach on Saturday, but Skidmore had to back out. Washington's next match is now set for next Friday, a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference match against Dickinson. Match Results
