27, 2003 LYNCHBURG, VA -- The Washington College men's tennis team sent a pair of players to the Third Annual Liberty Invitational held yesterday and today at Liberty College in Lynchburg, VA. Juniors Rafael Martins (Vitoria, Brazil/Prof. Anibal de Freitas) and Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City School) represented the Shoremen at the event, which also featured players from NCAA Division I schools Liberty and James Madison and Division II Longwood. Martins went 2-1 in singles play, defeating two Division I players in the process. He bested Martin Roehricht of James Madison, 7-6, 6-4, and Joel Moylan of Liberty, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. Farouk finished 1-2 in singles, recording a 6-3, 6-4, win over James Madison's Craig Anderson. Martins and Farouk went 0-3 in doubles play. The Washington College men's tennis team returns to action at the ITA Southeast Regionals held October 3-6 at Swarthmore College. WC Match Results
