23, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College senior Pete Taylor (Canton, CT/Canton) picked up his 100th career collegiate singles victory as the host Shoremen, ranked 18th in Division III and fifth in the Atlantic South region, defeated visiting Johns Hopkins, 6-1, in a Centennial Conference match this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. Johns Hopkins is ranked 16th in the Atlantic South region. Taylor's historic win came at No. 1 singles, where he defeated Justin Belisario, 6-0, 6-0. Taylor's career singles record now stands at 100-14, good for a winning percentage of 87.7%. Taylor also won in doubles today, teaming with junior Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City School) to score an 8-2 win at No. 1. Freshmen Vivian Chhetri (Delhi, India/Prachar Vidhlaya) and Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Vallo Verde School) won at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, while sophomores Maciek Prytula (Szczecin, Poland/PLO) and Tim Riskie (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) won by an identical score at No. 3. The Shoremen won at the top five spots in singles play. Chhetri won, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 2, while Solis was a 6-1, 6-1, winner at No. 3. Farouk scored a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4, while Prytula recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5. The win was the 116th consecutive conference victory for the Shoremen, who are 84-0 all-time in the Centennial Conference. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. conference match at Gettysburg. Match Results
