18, 2003 CORPUS CHRISTI, TX -- Washington College senior Peter Taylor (Canton, CT/Canton) finished in second place in Division III men's singles at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championships in Corpus Christi, TX. Taylor lost in today's championship match to Evan Tindell of M.I.T., 6-3, 7-5. Taylor was down 5-2 in the second set and trailing 40-0 in the eighth game of that set, but staved off five match points and mounted a rally before finally falling to Tindell. Taylor had beaten Tindell, 6-4, 0-6, 6-2, last March at the ITA Team Indoor Nationals, in their only previous meeting. Taylor advanced to final match with a 7-6(5), 6-4 win over Loren Collins of Gustavus Adolphus in the semifinals on Friday. On Thursday, Taylor bested Michael Thompson of NYU, 7-6(3), 6-2. Washington head coach Constantine Ananiadis was pleased with Taylor's performance. "Pete played really well. As much as both of us would have liked him to win, we're very satisfied with second place. Pete's looking forward to playing Evan (Tindell) again, hopefully in the NCAA Tournament. This was a really good way for Pete to close out the Fall season." Match Results
