17, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The 20th-ranked Washington College men's tennis team improved to 87-0 all-time in the Centennial Conference and won their 119 consecutive conference match of any kind by defeating visiting Haverford, 6-1, this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Shoremen swept all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day. Senior Pete Taylor (Canton, CT/Canton) are junior Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City School) were 8-2 winners at No. 1, freshmen Vivian Chhetri (Delhi, India/Prachar Vidhlaya) and Arturo Solis (Guatemala, Guatemala/Vallo Verde School) won at No. 3, 8-2, and seniors Ben Dernis (Paris, France/New Hampton, NH) and Brant Whisler (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland) posted an 8-6 win at No. 3. Washington also won five singles matches. Taylor recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Chhetri was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 2. Solis cruised to a 6-1, 6-1, win at No. 3 and Farouk won at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Nick Komljenovic (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) captured No. 6 singles by a 6-4, 6-4 count. The Shoremen, 11-5 overall and 7-0 in conference play this season, finish their 2004 Centennial dual match schedule Tuesday with a 2:30 p.m. match at McDaniel. Match Results
