24, 2003 BALTIMORE, MD -- The ninth-ranked Washington College men's tennis team improved to 75-0 all time in Centennial Conference play with a 5-2 victory at Johns Hopkins this afternoon. The Shoremen are now 4-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play this season. The Shoremen won the doubles point by taking the top two spots. Junior Peter Taylor (Canton, CT/Canton) and senior Louis Blanchette (Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada/Mathieu-Martin) won 8-1 at No. 1, while sophomore Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City School) and senior Alvaro Prado (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Liceo Javier) won 8-0 at No. 2. In singles, Taylor was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 1, while Blanchette won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. The Shoremen's other two singles wins came at No. 3, where Farouk won 6-1, 6-3, and at No. 5, where freshman Maciek Prytula (Szczecin, Poland/PLO) was a 7-6(3), 6-2 winner. The Shoremen are back in action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. match against 19th-ranked Rhodes at Washington & Lee. Match Results
