1, 2003 HAVERFORD, PA -- The ninth-ranked Washington College men's tennis team swept past host Haverford, 6-0, in Centennial Conference action this afternoon. The Shoremen, now 6-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play this season, improved to 76-0 all-time in the Centennial Conference with the win. The Shoremen won the top five singles matches
in straight sets and No. 6 singles in a pro set. Doubles were not played.
Junior Peter Taylor (Canton, CT/Canton) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner
at No. 1, while senior Louis Blanchette (Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada/Mathieu-Martin)
won, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Sophomore Asfand Farouk (Karachi, Pakistan/City
School) was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 3 and senior Alvaro Prado
(Guatemala City, Guatemala/Liceo Javier) posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at
No. 4. Freshman Tim Riskie (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) won
6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 and freshman Ronen Kashvin (Rishon Le Tzion, Israel/Hashmonaim
Bat-Yam) took the pro set at No. 6, 8-6. The Shoremen return to action Friday when they host Franklin & Marshall in a 3:30 p.m. conference match. Match Results
