Garnet Float Past Shoremen, 126-77
Violette Becomes Eighth-Fastest WC Swimmer In 200 Free

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Visiting Swarthmore College downed host Washington College, 126-77, in Centennial Conference men's swimming tonight at the Casey Swim Center in the final dual meet of the season for each team. The Garnet finish with a 6-4 overall and 5-1 conference record in dual meets, while the Shoremen finish 6-5 and 2-4 respectively.

Freshman Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) won two events and became the eighth-fastest swimmer in WC history in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.74. Violette also captured the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.46.

Sophomore Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) captured the 200 butterfly with a time 2:04.30. The 400 medley relay team of Violette, senior Alex Thomas (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall), Pollock and sophomore Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) won with a time of 3:42.38.

Washington's second place finishers were Soper in the 50 free (22.42) and 100 free (50.06) and Thomas in the 200 individual medley (2:09.37) and 200 breaststroke (2:19.93). The 400 freestyle relay team of junior Dan Wentzel (Exton, PA/Henderson), Pollock, junior Phil Munger (Devon, PA/Conestoga) and senior Eddie Raleigh (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) placed second with a time of 3:26.30.

The Shoremen will compete at the Centennial Conference Championships February 22nd-24th in Lancaster, PA hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
