17, 2007 ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - Freshman Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) and senior Alex Thomas (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall) won two individual events each as the Washington College men's swim team rolled to a 128-69 win over host Elizabethtown in a non-conference dual meet this afternoon. The Shoremen improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory. Violette won the 400 individual medley in 4:29.27 to become the Shoremen's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in that event. He also won the 100 backstroke in 58.11. Thomas won the 50 freestyle in 23.96 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.45. Junior Dan Wentzel (Exton, PA/Henderson) won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.20, while sophomore Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) won the 100 butterfly in 57.07. Violette, Thomas, Pollock, and junior Phil Munger (Devon, PA/Conestoga) won the 200 medley relay in 1:44.74. Pollock, sophomore Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield), Wentzel, and senior Brandon Becker (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks East) won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:36.00. Individual second-place finishes were turned in by sophomore Dan Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) in the 1000 freestyle (11:15.31) and 500 freestyle (5:36.06), Becker in the 50 freestyle (24.30), Munger in the 400 individual medley (4:56.55), Wentzel in the 100 freestyle (52.39), and junior Mike Caro (Yorktown, VA/Yorktown) in the 100 backstroke (1:05.46). The Shoremen return to action November 27th with a 6:00 p.m. non-conference meet at Widener.
