Washington Wins Every Event

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD - The Washington College men's swim team won every event en route to a 151-54 win over host St. Mary's College in a non-conference meet this afternoon in St. Mary's City, MD. The Shoremen improved to 3-1 on the year with the win, marking their first 3-1 start to a season since the 1995-96 campaign.

Senior Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield), freshman Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield), and junior Alex Thomas (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall) each won two individual events. Colin Soper won the 200 individual medley in 2:04.90 and the 500 freestyle in 5:16.78. Thomas captured the 50 freestyle in 23.23 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.47. Chris Soper was a winner in the 200 freestyle in 1:52.11 and in the 100 freestyle in 50.49.

Freshman Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) won the 100 butterfly in a WC season-best time of 54.64 and was second in the 200 freestyle in 1:53.23. Sophomore Dan Wentzel (Exton, PA/Henderson) won the 1000 freestyle in 10:49.76, while junior Brandon Becker (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks East) won the 100 backstroke in 59.37.

Freshman Justin Morgan (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph) was second in both the 50 freestyle (23.46) and the 100 butterfly (56.48), while freshman Dan Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) was second in the 1000 freestyle (11:08.46) and the 500 freestyle (5:23.97).

Becker, Thomas, Morgan, and Colin Soper won the 200 medley relay in a WC season-best time of 1:42.37. Pollock, Wentzel, Becker, and Chris Soper were first in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:33.08.

The Shoremen return to action November 28th with a 6:00 p.m. home meet against Widener.
