| December 9, 2006 CHESTERTOWN, MD - Junior Alex Thomas (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall) won a pair of individual events as the host Washington College men's swimming team topped visiting Elizabethtown, 121-65, in a non-conference meet today at Casey Swim Center. Thomas won the 100 freestyle in 51.49 and the 100 breaststroke in a WC season-best time of 1:01.43 for the Shoremen, who improved to 4-2 with the victory. Freshman Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) added a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:09.49) and second-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:53.42). Freshman Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military) became Washington's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in the 100 butterfly with his first-place and WC season-best time of 54.03. Pollock was also second in the 50 freestyle in 23.51. Senior Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) won the 400 individual medley in 4:32.95 and was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.81, becoming Washington's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in that event. Sophomore Phil Munger (Devon, PA/Conestoga) placed second in the 400 individual medley (4:45.81), junior Brandon Becker (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks East) was second in the 100 butterfly (56.52), junior Eddie Raleigh (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) was second in the 100 freestyle (53.49), sophomore Dan Wentzel (Exton, PA/Henderson) finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.60), and freshman Dan Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:27.10). The Shoremen also took both relay events. Becker, Colin Soper, Pollock, and freshman Justin Morgan (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph) won the 200 medley relay in 1:42.54. Wentzel, Morgan, Beadell, and Chris Soper won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.31. After their annual training trip to Florida, the Shoremen return to competition January 16th with a 5:00 p.m. meet at Goucher.
