Shoremen Relay Wins Bronze at Centennials
Wentzel, Pollock Garner Fourth-Place Finishes

LANCASTER, PA - Junior Brandon Becker (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks East), junior Alex Thomas (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall), freshman Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military), and senior Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) won the bronze in the 200 medley relay in a WC season-best time of 1:38.29 as the Washington College men's swim team finished fifth of seven teams overall at the Centennial Conference Championships held Friday, yesterday, and today at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA.

Pollock also finished fourth in the 100 butterfly in a WC season-best time of 53.29, becoming Washington's fourth-fastest swimmer ever in that event. In the 200 butterfly, Pollock was fifth in a WC season-best time of 2:01.63, becoming the Shoremen's third-fastest swimmer ever in that event. He became the Shoremen's eighth-fastest swimmer ever in the 500 freestyle with his consolation finals time of 5:01.08.

Sophomore Dan Wentzel (Exton, PA/Henderson) also finished fourth in an individual event, becoming the Shoremen's second-fastest swimmer ever in the 1650 freestyle with his WC season-best time of 17:21.58. Wentzel was eighth in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.32. In the preliminaries, Wentzel swam a 4:57.48 to become the Shoremen's fifth-fastest swimmer ever in the 500 freestyle.

Freshman Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield), freshman Justin Morgan (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph), Thomas, and Colin Soper finished fourth in the 200 freestyle relay in a WC season-best time of 1:27.94. Junior Brandon Becker (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks East), Thomas, Pollock, and Chris Soper were fourth in the 400 medley relay in a WC season-best time of 3:39.46.

Chris Soper, sophomore Dan Wentzel (Exton, PA/Henderson), junior Eddie Raleigh (Hanover, PA/Southwestern), and Colin Soper were fourth in the 800 freestyle relay in a WC season-best time of 7:16.41.

Colin Soper placed fifth in the 200 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 1:46.37, making him the Shoremen's second-fastest swimmer ever in that event. Colin Soper also was fifth in the 500 freestyle in 4:52.00 after swimming a WC season-best time of 4:51.55 in the preliminaries. In the 100 freestyle, he was 10th in 48.86.

Thomas placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.23. Thomas was also seventh in the 200 individual medley in 2:02.36 after swimming a WC season-best time of 2:01.88 in the preliminaries and eighth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:16.40.

Morgan finished seventh in the 100 butterfly in 53.98, making him the Shoremen's sixth-fastest swimmer ever in that event. Morgan also swam a WC season-best time of 22.20 in the preliminaries of the 50 freestyle to become the Shoremen's ninth-fastest swimmer ever in that event.

Chris Soper finished ninth in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.17, making him the Shoremen's seventh-fastest swimmer ever in that event. He also took ninth in the 100 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 48.69 to become Washington's fourth-fastest swimmer ever in that event.

Chris Soper, Morgan, Raleigh, and Colin Soper were fifth in the 400 freestyle relay in a WC season-best time of 3:16.80.

Freshman Dan Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) became the Shoremen's fifth-fastest swimmer ever in the 1650 freestyle with his 11th-place time of 17:58.67. Raleigh became the Shoremen's ninth-fastest swimmer ever in the 200 freestyle with his 12th-place time of 1:49.75. Becker swam a WC season-best time of 2:07.64 in the 200 backstroke to finish 10th.
