| February 8, 2006 CHESTERTOWN, MD - Visiting Swarthmore College defeated host Washington College, 122-81, in Centennial Conference men's swimming this evening at Casey Swim Center. Sophomore Alex Thomas (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall) and junior Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) each won two events for the Shoremen. Thomas won the 200 individual medley in a WC season-best time of 2:04.74 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.82. Soper took first in the 200 freestyle in 1:50.50 and in the 100 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 49.32. Sophomore Brandon Becker (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks East) finished second in the 50 freestyle (23.32) and the 200 backstroke (2:09.76), while freshman Dan Wentzel (Exton, PA/Henderson) was second in the 500 freestyle (5:11.33). Becker, Soper, Thomas, and Wentzel swam a WC season-best time of 1:42.04 in the 200 medley relay to finish second. The Shoremen, who finished the dual meet season with a 5-5 overall record and a 2-4 mark in conference meets, will compete at the Centennial Conference Championships February 17th-19th at Franklin & Marshall.
