16, 2004 CHESTER, PA - The Washington College men's swim team fell to host Widener University, 97-77, in a non-conference meet this evening in Chester, PA. The Shoremen slipped to 3-3 overall this season with the loss. Washington senior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) won the 200 individual medley in 2:07.00. Freshman Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) was second in both the 1000 freestyle and 500 freestyle. He swam a 10:27.43 in the 1000, making him the Shoremen's third-fastest swimmer ever in that event and shaving 19 seconds off of his previous effort in the 1000 this season. Freshman Chris Tinsman (Georgetown, DE/home school) added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle in a season-best 52.5. Junior Ken Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and sophomore Shane Walsh (Mitchellville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) recorded one second-place finish each as well, in the 200 butterfly and the 200 breaststroke, respectively. Soper, Jensen, sophomore Dean Campbell (La Plata, MD/La Plata), and freshman Lars Kalp (Everett, PA/Mercersburg Academy) won the 400 freestyle relay. The Shoremen return to action one week from today with a 6:00 p.m. home meet against Goucher. |
