Shoremen Nip Salisbury
Evans Wins Three Events

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Senior John Paul Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) won three individual events as the host Washington College men's swim team posted a 102.5-100.5 victory over visiting Salisbury this evening at Casey Swim Center. The Shoremen improved to 1-1 with the win, while the Sea Gulls slipped to 2-3 with the loss.

Evans captured first place in the 1000 freestyle (10:42.17), the 200 individual medley (2:06.58), and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.31). Sophomore Andy Wesolek (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) finished first in the 50 freestyle (23.07) and the 500 freestyle (5:11.03), while senior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) won the 100 freestyle (50.96).

The Shoremen also took second place in six individual events. Freshmen Lars Kalp (Everett, PA/Mercersburg Academy) and Chris Tinsman (Georgetown, DE/home school) each had two second-place finishes. Kalp was second in the 1000 freestyle (11:16.53) and the 500 freestyle (5:27.32), while Tinsman was second in the 200 freestyle (1:56.75) and the 100 backstroke (1:02.10). Wesolek added a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle (23.07).

Sophomore Dean Campbell (La Plata, MD/La Plata) accounted for the Shoremen's other individual second-place finish by taking second in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.93. That performance was one of three-personal bests on the night for Campbell. Campbell also led off the 200 freestyle relay team that finished second in the evening's final event to clinch the meet victory for the Shoremen.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Ursinus.
