8, 2003 GETTYSBURG, PA - The Washington College men's swim team dropped its 2003-04 season opener against host Gettysburg, 146-57, in a Centennial Conference meet this afternoon. Washington senior John Paul Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and freshman Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) each won one individual event in the meet. Evans won the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.28. Soper completed the 1,000 freestyle in a winning time of 10:46.10. That time makes Soper the eighth-fastest Shoreman ever in that event. Evans and Soper each captured an individual second-place finish as well. Evans was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:04.95, while Soper was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:10.30. Senior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) added a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle. Kuhn finished that race in 1:53.28. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. home meet against Eastern Shore rival Salisbury.
