Shoremen Top Blue Jays, 117-38
Soper Wins Two Events in Comeback Meet

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - Freshman Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) won a pair of individual events in his first meet since the season opener as the Washington College men's swim team topped host Elizabethtown, 117-38, in a non-conference meet this afternoon.

Soper, who had been sidelined due to illness since Washington's November 8th meet at Gettysburg, won the 200 freestyle in 1:53.46 and the 100 freestyle in 51.94. The Shoremen also got two individual first-place finishes each from senior John Paul Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and freshman Chris Tinsman (Georgetown, DE/home school). Evans won the 400 individual medley in 4:33.57 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.03, while Tinsman won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.75 and the 50 freestyle in 24.28. Evans' time in the 400 individual medley was a WC season best. Junior Ken Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) won the 100 butterfly in 59.33 and senior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) won the 500 freestyle in 5:27.80 to round out WC's individual first-place finishes.

Kuhn also contributed a second place finish in the 400 individual medley in 4:36.94. Sophomore Dean Campbell (La Plata, MD/La Plata) added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.82, while freshman Lars Kalp (Everett, PA/Mercersburg Academy) was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:34.78.

The Shoremen also won the 200 medley relay as Evans, Kuhn, Jensen, and Tinsman finished in 1:50.32.

The Shoremen, now 3-2 on the season, are back in action Friday evening with a 6:00 p.m. meet at Widener.
